Salzburg against Tirol 2-0 winner, storm against Hartberg goalless
Salzburg celebrated a successful dress rehearsal before the Champions League opener against Italian champions AC Milan and led LASK for at least 24 hours. The people of Linz will meet SV Ried in the Upper Austria derby in Pasching on Sunday. Salzburg offered one-way street football in the first 25 minutes. Okafor ran free after a perfect cross from Fernando and scored the deserved lead after 13 minutes. The goal was flagged for offside due to a centimeter decision by the video referee.
Salzburg shifted down a gear after the strong opening phase, but retained control of the game. After 40 minutes, the Jaissle team had 74 percent possession. The second half began with a great chance to equalize for the WSG. However, Tim Prica was unable to get Zan Rogelj’s sharp cross on target (48′). After the break, the “bulls” were no longer forced to die. However, Diarra made the decision in the 79th minute with his first Bundesliga goal. The WSG countered again and again, but no longer became a threat to the home side. So it stayed with the deserved and unchallenged 2-0 win for Salzburg.
In the Styrian duel of the Bundesliga on Saturday, Sturm Graz couldn’t get past 0-0 despite being outnumbered for more than 80 minutes. Coach Christian Ilzer’s team lacked efficiency and concreteness in front of goal. Although Sturm had a man more on the field from the 12th minute, coach Christian Ilzer’s favorite team was not good enough for three points in the Styrian derby. So nothing came of the expected dress rehearsal for the Europa League start next Thursday against the Danish representative Midtjylland. However, Sturm retained third place in the table, one point ahead of the newly promoted team from Vorarlberg.
The Vienna Austria and newly promoted Austria Lustenau shared the points in a gripping game. The newcomer from the Ländle stole a point with a 2:2 (1:2) at the “Veilchen” and thus continued his significant start to the season. Reinhold Ranftl gave Austria from Vienna the lead after just four minutes, but Lukas Fridrikas (27′) and Anderson (34′) temporarily turned the game around for the brave climber. Aleksandar Jukic (57th) secured a well-deserved point for the team coached by Manfred Schmid.
Lustenau’s Stefano Surdanovic saw the yellow-red card shortly before the end (87th). The Vorarlbergers around coach Markus Mader now have eleven points on the account, Vienna Austria six. However, the Viennese missed the published leap into the top 6 and started the upcoming Conference League group phase without a sense of achievement. The reliable runner-up Hapoel Be’er Sheva is waiting there on Thursday (6.45 p.m.).
On Sunday in Wolfsberg the Carinthian Derby WAC against Austria Klagenfurt is on the program, the LASK tries against Ried to regain dominance in Upper Austria and over the table again. Rapid has to go to SCR Altach.
