Updated vaccines to be offered in Norway – Dagsavisen
– Now that variant-updated mRNA-based vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna have been approved as booster doses, in Norway we will offer them as booster vaccinations – to all groups for which booster doses are recommended, says assistant director Geir Bukholm to The daily newspaper.
For basic vaccination with mRNA vaccines, only the original vaccines are approved, he says.
The first and second doses are considered basic vaccinations in Norway. So far, 90.9 per cent of people in Norway aged 18 and over have been registered as basic vaccinated.
A refresher dose is recommended for people aged 65 and over, and people between 18 and 64 who are in the risk groups.
The EMA approved the updated vaccines on Thursday. They should provide wider protection against the coronavirus and the omicron variant.
