the White Blue Train is back
The ancient railway line of 33 km which in the past has connected San Marino and Rimini return. The announcement came from the Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati and by the Italian Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia. The process for the project that would lead has begun an important tourist impact throughout the territory, already evaluated by the director general of the State Railways Foundation, Luigi Cantamessathe feasibility of the work: “The white and blue train – he says – will have nothing to envy to the Bernina Railway”.
“It’s a historic moment – highlights Federico Pedini Amati – that all San Marino citizens have been waiting for for years, I see for the first time something really that could really start together with the State Railways Foundation. We put everything on the table, made the complete analysis of what could be a restart, with the times, of the old historic railway. I must say that it is not taken for granted that after so many years Italy will come back, in a vigorous way, to tell us together we will restart the train “.
“L’work will be done because we have practically started the process – says Massimo Garavaglia – the Ministry of Tourism has written to the Ferrovie dello Stato Foundation if it is interested in doing the project but it is a formal act because obviously we already know it is interested. At that point we will instruct the foundation to do the preliminary project which can then be set up on site and also manageable from a financial point of view, which does not worry me in the least because we have already done a pre-study of an economic and financial plan and it could even finance itself however, without reaching that point, we fully support the work as far as we are concerned . I therefore see no obstacles on the realization“.
The first part of the project should include the activation of the section that connects the mountain station to the state border. The second step will connect the border with the Coriano station and finally the last stretch to Rimini.
