Monte Titano is a mountainous relief of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines, in particular of the Rimini Apennines, which rises up to 739 m above sea level.

Being the main relief of the Republic of San Marino, due to its great extension the name of Monte Titano is often used to refer to the Republic itself. On the peaks of this mountain are the three fortresses of the city of San Marino. The first is called Rocca or Guaita, the second Cesta or Fratta and the third Montale. Its slopes are located between the castle of the city of San Marino and Borgo Maggiore.

The most populous castle is Serravalle which has more than 11,001 inhabitants. Since 2008, the historic center of the city of San Marino and Mount Titano have been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site as, according to the motivation, “testimony of the continuity of a free republic since the 13th century”.
