Regionalliga West: Fortuna Cologne is back – victory against leaders
Fortuna Cologne is back after a weak start to the season. The ambitious regional league won the second game in a row, this time against the league leaders.
Fortune Cologne started the 2022/2023 season with three defeats and one draw. Far too little for the ambitions of Fortuna.
It’s been going up for three games now. A zero number against Schalke II was followed by a 1-0 away win at SC Wiedenbrück and on Friday evening a 3-0 gala against the current league leaders 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn. Lars Lokotsch and Dustin Willms scored the goal for the team coached by Markus von Ahlen, who can also take a deep breath.
Kaan-Marienborn: Jendrusch-Tomas, Schauerte, Pazurek (Hoffmann 83), Schlosser-Brandenburg, Scheld (Scepanik 54), Zimpel (Waldrich 54), Kyere-Wirtz (Alajebegovic 71), Hammel.
Referee: Martin Ulankiewicz
Crack: 1-0 Lokotsch (12′), 2-0 Willms (54′), 3-0 Lokotsch (89′)

Yellow cards: – Pazurek.
Sure: Fortuna is still far behind its goals, but seems to be on the mend. In the next encounters against Bocholt, Oberhausen, Aachen or Düren, only three count for the Cologne team to get back up to Kaan-Marienborn and Münster. The Cologne team gave away too many points on the first few days of the game.
For the strong climber from Siegerland, the 0:3 in the south stadium was only the first defeat of the season. Previously, Kaan-Marienborn won five times and only drew once (1-1 against 1. FC Köln II). Coach Thorsten Nehrbauer’s team will continue at home on the next matchday. Then comes Rot-Weiss Oberhausen in Siegerland.
