18,467 new cases were confirmed in Portugal in the last seven days, 750 less than in the previous report. The death toll has gone up and hospitalizations have gone down.
The most recent report by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) indicates that there is high transmissibility with a stable date at the national level. An incidence of 179 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants was recorded, 4% less than in previous data.

The number of deaths has increased in the last seven days: 44 deaths were recorded, five more than in the previous report. The now is the mortality of four deaths per million inhabitants, an increase of 13%.
By region of the country, the greatest reduction in cases was recorded in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (-1,175 new cases), followed by the Center (-377 cases). The North region, on the other hand, recorded an increase in new cases in seven days, with 590 cases.
The DGS status report refers to the BA.5 variant of the ómicron variant “continues to be clearly dominant in Portugal”, with an estimated frequency of 94% in the week of August 15-21. The DGS notes that the stage “has revealed a greater transmission capacity”.
This Friday was seasonal and seasonal against seasonal flu and also against early next week.
