Fortuna Cologne gives Primus Kaan-Marienborn no chance
On the 7th day of the Regionalliga West, leaders 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn started on Friday and made a guest appearance at Fortuna Köln. The Südstadter prevailed surprisingly clearly with 3:0.

Fortuna Cologne versus 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn, that was a duel on Friday between a moderately started promotion candidate and a newcomer to the league, who not only arrived well in the fourth division, but also catapulted himself to first place.
On Friday, however, the forces were distributed as many experts would have imagined before the start of the season. Fortuna immediately looked for a way to go on the offensive and converted it to 1-0 in the 13th minute. Lange hit a precise cross at the six-yard box to Lokotsch, and he headed in assertively. Incidentally, the first home goal for Cologne this season. Kaan-Marienborn didn’t achieve much offensively and was lucky that Willms didn’t choose the outer post in the 23rd minute, when Fortune involuntarily chose the outside post. If something came up on the home goal, Weis was an attentive support.
Even after half-time, the Domstädter continued to set the tone. After a cross pass from Budimbu, Willms increased the lead to 2-0 (57th) far too unprotected. After just over an hour, a great combination from the home side deserved the third goal, but a Lange cross put Batarilo-Cerdic in the center of the penalty area with a scissor hit next to the Käner box. In the 82nd minute, Lokotsch let the 3:0 lie by running towards goalkeeper Jendrusch, he struck ice cold in the 90th minute and pushed an assist from Nadjombe, who had energetically asserted himself via the left, over the line to score the last goal of the evening.
Münster without Kwadwo against Cologne II
On Saturday, the current first pursuer, SC Preußen Münster, also has to deal with an opponent from the cathedral city. Coach Sascha Hildmann’s team meets the U21s of 1. FC Köln. In Straelen, the Prussians showed a lot of patience and won 2-0. The threesome was marred by the substitution of winger Manfred Kwadwo, who, according to the SCP, WILL be out for several weeks with a muscular injury in his rear thigh.
More about the Regionalliga West
Rot-Weiss Oberhausen and Wuppertaler SV are responsible for the return. While RWO wants to show a different face after the 1:5 slip in Rödinghausen, things are generally tough at WSV. Even the best chances didn’t go into the goal against Mönchengladbach II, the top team predicted by many stuck in midfield. Attacker Roman Prokoph leaves no room for interpretation on the Wuppertal website as to what should jump out against SV Straelen’s still pointless bottom: “Anything other than a home win would of course be disappointing.”
Oberhausen is expecting the U23s from FC Schalke 04 on Saturday, who are currently regularly playing with temporary staff from the professional squad. In the 2-1 draw against Kaan-Marienborn, the four-man defense of Mehmet Aydin, Ibrahima Cissé, Leo Greiml and Kerim Calhanoglu consisted entirely of professionals. RWO President Hajo Sommers, who sees these practices very critically, will clench his fist in his pocket one or the other time on Saturday. His coach Mike Terranova, on the other hand, will be happy that Nico Klaß is slowly getting into the starting eleven after his injury, because with the central defender the defense, which had conceded at least one goal in every league game so far, could be a bit more stable again.
After the 0:3 in Lippstadt, 1. FC Düren fell back to third place. But that doesn’t change the fact that the promoted team – like Kaan-Marienborn – has had a formidable season so far. Now comes table neighbor SV Rödinghausen in the Westkampfbahn. Vincent Geimer, who was suspended for four games after being sent off for a serious foul, will not be available.
Saturday will be completed by three games: Fortuna Düsseldorf II is expecting SV Lippstadt 08, SC Wiedenbrück is up against 1. FC Bocholt and Rot Weiss Ahlen will give their fans a home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach II.
Traditional duel on Sunday
The only Sunday game has a touch of nostalgia: SG Wattenscheid 09 plays against Alemannia Aachen in Lohrheide. Fans of both camps will like to think of glorious first division times, because the present is dreary. The SGW ranks on the penultimate place in the table, Aachen has climbed to 13th place after the first win of the season. “Finally, our performance has been rewarded with three points,” said coach Fuat Kilic after the 1-0 win against Ahlen and at the same time demanded: “We have to increase effectiveness.” At Wattenscheid, the news came during the week that defender Jeffrey Malcherek will be out for several weeks due to a torn muscle.
