Dubai-based Chiara Noja finishes tied for eighth in the Sweden competition at LETAS
Chiara was out on three under par, in a three-birdie 32, against a par on 35, before turning for home. A bogey on hole 10 halted 16-year-old Chiara’s momentum, but she hit back with birdies on holes 15 and 17 to return a back nine of 34 and an 18-hole total of 66.
The winner was Sara Kouskova of the Czech Republic with rounds of 65, 67 and 66 for a 54-hole total of 12 under par for a three-shot victory.
Chiara, after her round, told Gulf News: “It’s been a roller-coaster week for me, and finally I managed to get a 54-hole score at par. I felt like there was never going to be a comeback from yesterday’s 74, but I think my homesickness pushed me on today. My only goal this season is to secure my 2023 LET card and playing privileges and I’m almost there. Looks like I’ll just start one more time for to get my card and then it’s back home to Dubai after four and a half months away from home on the road.
“My work doesn’t stop there, as I have an important year of education ahead of me with my GSCEs to take at the end of this academic year, so I try to catch up remotely on a daily basis as I travel on tour, which is challenging at times, as you can imagine.”
Chiara remains on top of the 2022 LETAS Order of Merit Rankings with 2012.98 points from 12 tournaments, followed by my German Patricia Isabel Schmidt with 1705.64 points after 17 tournaments. In third place comes this week’s champion in Sweden, the Czech Republic’s Sara Kouskova with 1,632.18 points after seven tournaments.
In the LETAS Rookie of the Year table, Chiara dominates again on 2012.98 points with her nearest challenger Sara Kouskova. Chiara’s next tournament is again at LETAS, the ASGI Lavaux Ladies Open, at Golf De Lavaux in Switzerland from September 14 to 16, with a prize fund of €40,000.
