Brunnthal – Serious accident at the Munich-South motorway junction – Munich district
An 84-year-old driver from Munich was seriously injured in a rear-end collision at the Munich-South motorway junction on Thursday evening. According to the police, the man drove his Mercedes around 9.30 p.m. in the middle of five lanes on the A 8 to change to the A 995 towards Giesing. According to the police, a 65-year-old from the Holzkirchen area who was coming from behind probably completely overlooked the Munich car because he drove into his Jaguar with almost no brakes and at a significantly higher speed. Due to the force of the impact, both vehicles were thrown into the two left lanes and came to a standstill there.
The 84-year-old was trapped in his car and was unresponsive when the first rescue workers arrived. He was taken to a clinic in Munich by ambulance, the severity of the clashes was initially unclear. The 65-year-old was also taken to a hospital with minor findings. Both vehicles are now ready for scrap – the property damage is estimated at a total of 50,000 euros. The autobahn had to be completely closed for about 30 minutes for a rescue helicopter to be deployed. In addition to the police and rescue workers, the Brunnthal fire brigade and the Holzkirchen motorway maintenance department were also on duty.
Since the course of the accident and the cause have not yet been clearly clarified, the Holzkirchen motorway police (telephone 08024/9073-0) is looking for witnesses. In particular, you will know whether the vehicles involved were noticed beforehand and at what speed they were driving at the time of the accident.
