Automotive sector meets for attempts and solutions for the future of the cluster in Portugal
Making Portugal a reference for vehicles to be created, creating conditions for some innovative companies in the automotive sector, and that some of the proposals from Mobinov Portugal – Associação do Cluster do Automóvel Portugal will be released, and which will be released in the coming days. September, in Lisbon, as part of the ‘Global Mobility 2022. Driving Portugal to the World’.
The event, which will take place at the Centro Cultural de Belém, aims, according to the organization, to the future of the automotive industry in Portugal and to analyze the main trends in the sector, together with ACAP – Associação Automóvel de Portugal and AFIA – Associação de Fabricantes. for the Automotive Industry.
Among the various topics under analysis will also be “Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in the Automotive Industry”, the “Importance of R&D [investigação e desenvolvimento] for the Automotive Industry” and “Infrastructure: A Barrier for the Autonomous and Connected Vehicle?”.
Within the scope of this event, Mobinov initiatives ten measures for the sector:
1 – Leadership in hydrogen
Portugal as the vehicle’s reference country, the appointment of the conditions for the production of components, and their testing. Need for a hydrogen supply network, for good hydrogen production, as implemented in Portugal.
2 – Attract and retain talent in the automotive industry
The need for talent companies and industries for the industry arises from the new capabilities needed to carry out the energy transition and digital transformation in this sector. Features require resources with a know how differentiating and specific to the sector. This talent thus becomes increasingly important to de- and retain.
3 – Train human resources
The pandemic has brought with it new challenges, such as the turnover of highly specialized labor in no sector, which will take time to be replaced. Additionally, a technological transformation and digital transformation also require new capabilities for companies’ human resources. The training of human resources in areas with digital literature appears as fundamental in responding to the pandemic and monitoring the others.
4 – Attracting companies oriented to the vehicle of the future
Portugal should leverage as good conditions to explore technologies, linked to the automotive sector and focused on future trends, which can invest in the country and boost the sector through the creation of synergies and capital.
5 – Promote the conversion of existing companies in the cluster
Portugal must create certain conditions for companies in the country to be able to reconvert and adapt to future needs, in order to foster the growth of the english cluster.
6 – Develop the cluster as an ecosystem to foster innovation and knowledge sharing
The cluster ecosystem should encourage information sharing and collaboration so that companies can secure market share by competing at their international level and win.
7 – Connect, in a sustainable way, Portuguese companies with the center of Europe
Multimodal strategies must be created that are for Portuguese companies to be more efficient and respond to the needs of international builders to increase sustainability throughout the sustainability value chain
8 – Create ideal conditions for energy monitoring
Through the availability of infrastructure and costs in a competitive context, Portugal may be able to accompany the energy transition, as companies in the cluster with the best conditions for this objective.
9 – Provide incentives for the development of Portuguese companies
For the growth of the industry and monitoring of trends, it will be necessary to provide incentives aimed at the specific needs of the companies in the cluster. In particular, incentives aimed at the energy transition of the sector and the technological transformation of the companies’ production process.
10 – Promoting the carbon neutrality of companies and the circular economy
In order to meet the goals and objectives outlined, there is, at national and European levels, a relative pressure on the industry and stimulus for the circular economy. Incentives should be offered for two companies in the cluster to invest in this competition of necessary incentives.
