7th place: Nikica Jelavic, Rapid to Rangers, 4.9 million euros
The “flying fortress” gave Rapid a lot of joy. After the last championship title in 2008, the attacker, who had matured primarily in Split, moved from the Belgian club Zulte Waregem to Vienna-Hütteldorf. Nikika Jelavic Scored seven league goals and five assists in his debut season for Rapidler. 2009/10 was his year in green and white. In the summer, with the winning goal in Birmingham and a goal at 1-2 at home, he made a significant contribution to the fact that favorite Aston Villa were thrown out of Europa League qualifying. He scored 18 goals in the league. In 2010, however, there was an ugly separation. The transfer to Rangers FC in Glasgow was already considered a failure, before the new duel with Aston Villa in the European Cup qualifier there was a scandal. Jelavić forced his transfer to Scotland, Rapid was angry. A third of the €4.9 million transfer fee quickly went to Belgium. After two years in Scotland, the striker moved on to Everton in the Premier League thanks to good performances. After three years there he goes to Hull for three years, the first two seasons also in the first division. He then played again in the Premier League for West Ham in 15/16. From 2016, the 34-year-old worked in China, first with Beijing Renhe and then with Guizhou Hengfeng in the second division. In 2020 he will return to Lokomotiva Zagreb and end his career, which he ended in 2021.

6th place: Erwin ‘Jimmy’ Hoffer, Rapid to Napoli, 5 million euros
had in front of the gate erwin Hope allegedly the same icy cold as ‘Jimmy the Tulip’ from the Bruce Willis film ‘No Half Things’ from 2000. When this film came out, Hoffer switched from Baden to the offspring of Admira. In 2006 Rapid struck – the inclined football fan knows this story quite well by now – in the southern part of the city. The teenager’s business card: four goals in the league. There were just as many in 2006/07. In the 2007/08 championship season, however, he enchanted the Hütteldorf fan base in unison with the ‘Langen’, Stefan Maierhofer, and Steffen Hofmann. Hoffer contributed ten goals and nine assists to the last green-white championship plate. Napoli struck for five million euros. Bad luck for Hoffer, the sporting management was swapped. Before he was transferred back to Admira this summer, he first played for Kaiserslautern, Eintracht Frankfurt and Kaiserslautern again – all on loan. In 2013, Fortuna Düsseldorf signed the nimble striker, after which he was still under contract with Karlsruhe and most recently with Beershot in Belgium. After all: Hoffer completed 139 second division and 30 first division games in Germany. He will return to Admira in 2019 and has been without a club since summer 2021.
