First novel in 50 years by Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka arrives in Portugal this month – Observer
The first novel in 50 years of the Nobel Prize in Literature Wole Soyinka will arrive in Portugal at the end of the month by Livros do Brasil, scheduled for the author’s presence in Óbidos in October, Porto Editora announced this Thursday.
The editorial group, which this Thursday presented as novelties of the season until the end of the year, revealed that the Libros do Brasil seal of approval will publish, on September 22, “Crónicas do Lugar do Povo Mais Feliz da Terra”, the first Soyinka’s novel “Season of Anomia”, 1973 (unpublished in Portugal).
According to the description of Porto Editora, in a statement, the work “is a punch on the table against the abuses of power given by one of the fiercest political activists in Africa”.
Also according to the publisher, Soyinka will be one of the guests at this year’s Folio – Óbidos International Literary Festival, on October 15th.
