City “well prepared” for winter service

The road maintenance department of the city of Salzburg is almost finished with its preparations for the coming winter. This is emphasized by senior road master Christian Bleibler. 2,000 tons of split and 1,400 tons of salt are already stored.
That’s a good way to get through the winter, emphasizes Oberstrassenmeister Bleibler. The winters are generally milder, but individual snow events are more intense, explains Bleibler.
However, the city is still looking for personnel support for the winter. Every winter, the city employs around 16 external drivers with their own snow plows. Some of these positions now have to be filled, says Christian Bleibler.
“Have to cover the self-employed with tips”
“We are therefore still looking for self-employed employees to support us in winter service with tractors, Unimogs or municipal vehicles. This year we still have four routes to be awarded. It’s about covering peaks in winter clearing services with these freelancers.”
According to Bleibler, these internal drivers must be on call for the city of Salzburg from November to April.
