The Pentagon signed a $182 million contract with the arms manufacturer Raytheon to purchase NASAMS short- and medium-range air defense systems for Ukraine.
The United States is providing Ukraine with two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems as part of announced defense assistance from the United States. It was reported on Wednesday, August 31 stated at the briefing of the official representative of the US Ministry of Defense, General Patrick Ryder.

NASAMS is a mobile anti-aircraft missile system designed to combat missiles, aircraft and other air targets at low and medium altitudes. The system operates at a distance of up to 40 km, depending on the projectile. It reaches 20 km in height.
It is known that up to 150,000 155-millimeter shells and four counter-battery radars were also included in the July 1 US military aid package worth $820.
The US has provided Ukraine with about $13 billion in military aid since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.
