Barcelona does not rule out queues this Thursday to buy discounted transport tickets: “We have to be prepared”
“We need to be prepared. There may be queues.” This has been the response of the Councilor for Mobility of the Catalan capital and president of Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), Laia Bonet, when asked this Wednesday if they foresee queues to acquire the transport titles that will be reduced from tomorrow, Thursday Until december 31. The price of the T-usual and the T-joven will be reduced by half and the T-casual will cost 30% less, according to the rates approved by the Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM). The objective: to face the costs of the energy crisis on transport.
Bonet has stated that they hope there will be no collapse, but that they will be “very vigilant” just in case, especially during the “early hours” of the day. Similarly, he has hoped that the fact that the school year does not start until September 5 will serve to space out the purchase. However, he has recommended acquiring transport tickets “telematically” to reduce waiting times. This allows you to pick them up at the station vending machines faster, without the need for cash or a credit card.
The president of TMB has also indicated that they hope that the discounts will help fully recover the ticket lost due to the Covid pandemic. These will mean that the T-usual of an area goes from 40 to 20 euros; the T-jove of an area, from 80 to 40; and the T-casual of a zone, from 11.35 to 7.95 euros.
