The Cesena Gobbi at the Hippodrome and then in San Marino
His particular vocal timbre, the wild and original contents, but at the same time intense, have once again hit the mark: the Cesena singer-songwriter Giuseppe Gobbi, in art simply Gobbi, born in 1997, was chosen to measure by Tony Hadley, one of the most renowned male voices in the world, to open the dates of August 25 in Pescara and August 26 in Porto Recanati, of the 40th Anniversary Tour of the British artist. A tour that celebrates his first 40 years of career and landed in Italy after touching almost 40 locations in the United Kingdom and then, after the summer, also in Australia and New Zealand.
The former frontman of Spandau Ballet, voice of “Through the barricades” and of the brand new “Obvious”, has always shown affinity with our country and its music, with particular attention to new generations of Italian songwriters, so much so that he decided to dare the opportunity for one of them to share the same stage, opening two dates of his concerts.
Gobbi, how did it go?
«It was first of all sharing an honor this experience with Tony Hadley and being able to party with him backstage. He says I remind him of Snow Patrol, which is a big compliment to me. I am happy to have involved an audience of at least 12,000,000 people, overcoming a challenge with myself and realizing that I can cope even with such big situations. The Pescara public even asked for an encore, which is unusual for an opening group ».
Learn about Hadley’s musical production?
«I think I only know a small part of his immense repertoire. Particularly his most famous pieces of him, but he is an artist that I really like. I got to know him artistically thanks to my father who is also my keyboard player and was with me sharing the same stage as Hadley, so for me a double emotion ».
How did you meet?
“By video call. She is a super sociable and very open-minded person. Just the fact that she has reached for a young guy like me to open her live shows speaks volumes about the kind of person and artist she is. I think you can teach me a lot and in fact you spoke I listened to it with my ears wide open ».
Hadley celebrates 40 years of music: a good omen for you for an equally long career?
«In life you never know, I would prefer to do things in small steps. I am already happy with the release of the next disco. The important thing is to always get involved, to seize any opportunity that arises that is relevant to my artistic career ».
Now back on stage in his Romagna.
«Yes, tonight at 9.30 I will be in concert with Giancane (presenting his Disgustour, ed), in the garden of the Club Ippodromo di Cesena. And on 10 September I will perform at the Artists at home festival in San Marino ».
Are there also new pieces in the pipeline?
“There will be news soon. Follow me via social ».
