Red Bull Salzburg also took the second hurdle in the ÖFB Cup and stands by after a 3-0 win Union belts in the round of 16. The Austrian series champions struggled against the regional league for a long time, only an own goal shortly before the break broke the spell for the defending champion in Ried.
Florian Schütz transported the ball after a misunderstanding with goalkeeper, Felix Wimmer into his own goal immediately after the unanimous stoppage time began, Dijon Kameri made the decision in the 64th minute with a long-range shot worth seeing after the restart. Junior Adamu scored the last goal of the evening in the 83rd minute.
Gurten never gave up without a fight, but the Upper Austrians hardly had any significant chances. The biggest found Fabian Wimmleitner in the 37th minute, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
While Salzburg ultimately made it through to the round of 16, two Bundesliga teams, Altach and Austria Lustenau, had to say goodbye in the second round of the cup. Altach lost to Admira 3-0, Lustenau lost 0:2 at the Wiener Sport-Club.
