Greetings to Rome: Land Tirol on diocesan pilgrimage
For the first time, Land Tirol offers the customary reception in Rome
- Network meeting and presentation of an Order of Eagles to Huberta Bertolini-Pott
- Tyrolean delegation to Pope Francis
It is a premiere in the “Eternal City”: The welcome ceremony for official events, which is unique in Tyrol – the “customary reception” – took place today, Tuesday, on the Capitol Square (Piazza del Campidoglio) in Rome. LH Gunther Teller, LTPin Sonja Ledl-Rossmann and those responsible for traditions LR John Tratter traveled with Bishop on the occasion of this year’s diocesan pilgrimage Herman Glettler to Rome to deliver the greetings from Tyrol. “I am very pleased to be presenting our state of Tyrol in this form in the Italian capital for the first time. With the customary reception, we have always heard a special appreciation for guests and friends of Tyrol. Today’s ceremony is therefore also a message of thanks for the good cooperation with the city government and the Austrian embassies in Rome – especially Ambassador Jan Kickert, who is always supporting both Tyrolean interests in Rome,” says LH Plate. The event was preceded by a meeting with the Vice Mayor of Rome, Pierluigi Sanna. “The city of Rome made sure that today’s reception was possible in an uncomplicated manner and in the best of friendly relationships,” says LH Plate. The customary reception was organized by the music band Matrei am Brenner and the First Schwaz Rifle Company. Numerous traditional Tyrolean associations, including the leading military standard of the state of Tyrol, were also there. Tomorrow, Wednesday, the Tyrolean delegation is invited to an audience with Pope Francis.
“It is something special to be able to express the connection between Tyrol and Rome, the capital of our neighboring country Italy and the residence of the Pope, in this way. Getting to know each other’s traditions promotes understanding and gives insight into the history of the other,” says LTPin Ledl-Rossmann. LR Tratter adds: “The customary reception is a representative part of historical Tyrol, which is lived out in this form as a real tradition. With the organization of the customary reception in Rome, we are presenting Tyrolean traditions to a broad audience and are thus also promoting our country and our culture.”
“More than 400 people from Tyrol who are taking part in the diocesan pilgrimage to Rome have a threefold goal in common: personal renewal in faith, experience, solidarity with the world church and spiritual strengthening for the actual challenges of our nervous times,” emphasizes Bishop Glettler. The Tyroleans who left for Rome on Monday with the diocesan pilgrimage will stay until Friday.
For organizing pilgrimages: Order of the Eagle for Huberta Bertolini-Pott
On Tuesday evening, the state of Tyrol organized a network meeting with Tyrolean partner institutions in Rome in the Palazzo Cardinal Cesi. The Austrian ambassador in Rome also lived with him, Jan Kickerand the Austrian Ambassador to the Holy See, Markus Bergman, at. In addition to music, there were multimedia and culinary contributions from Tyrol.
Presented at the evening reception LH Plate Huberta Bertolini Pott the Tyrolean Eagle Order in silver. “Ms. Bertolini-Pott has been working as a consultant for pilgrimages in the Austrian Embassy to the Holy See for many years. Through her dedicated organization of pilgrimages for Tyroleans, she makes a valuable contribution to our country. The Tyrolean Eagle Order, on which we congratulate, stands for recognition and appreciation.” LH Plate. The Tyrolean Eagle Order was created in 1970 by the Tyrolean state parliament and honors personalities who do not come from Tyrol, but who have shaped the country with their commitment and work.
