Andorra’s electric bike service will be free for residents until December 31

The Government of Andorra has signed an agreement with the parishes of Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria and Escaldes-Engordany that restructures and extends the shared electric bike service, which will be free for residents of the Principality until December 31, 2022 and will focus on these three parishes.
In a statement this Tuesday, the Andorran Government explained that, after five years of concession contract, “it has been shown that the main users of electric bikes” are concentrated in Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria and Escaldes. -Fatty.
For this reason, the stations have been relocated to the most used parishes, the service has been expanded through stations without a recharging point, and the service has been permanently free for young people between 16 and 20 years of age.
As regards free travel for residents of Andorra until the end of 2022, this decision is part of the Government’s measure to offer free public transport, and free tickets can be requested from this Tuesday with the application cicland mobile.
In total, the service will have 17 stations –two of them without a recharging point–, and as explained by the Minister for the Environment, Agriculture and Sustainability of Andorra, Sílvia Calvó, the stations will be relocated at no additional cost to local corporations. stations of the parishes of Canillo, Encamp, Ordino and la Massana in those of Andorra la Vella and Sant Julià de Lòria.
VEHICLE FLOTATION
In September, the fleet of vehicles will be renewed with “more ergonomic, comfortable and lighter bicycles, with a larger basket and with a battery that can be removed”.
The one-year agreement, automatically renewable up to a maximum of five, between the Government of Andorra and the three local entities represents an annual contribution of 65,714 euros by the Andorran Executive and 32,143 by Andorra la Vella, 6,429 by Sant Julià de Lòria, and 25,714 from Escaldes-Engordany.
