Italians celebrate Ehizibue transfer |
That’s why Cologne’s “Easy” deal is negligent
Cologne’s defense is flat. The need for injuries could hardly be greater at Geißbockheim. And yet the FC apparently sticks to the transfer of Kingsley Ehizibue (27) to Udinese Calcio and gives up the defender…
The Italians are already celebrating at least the “Easy Deal”. After the Cologne native passed the medical check, the club tweeted “Ehi” on Monday evening with a waving hand next to it, announcing Ehizibue’s commitment until 2026. It should be official on Tuesday.
Here’s how Udinese announce the EHIzibue deal
joy in Italian In Cologne, on the other hand, in view of four injury absences after the VfB game, the fans are wondering whether Cologne shouldn’t have held “Easy” in the greatest need.
After all, the Dutchman was not only the first squad alternative for right-back Benno Schmitz (27), who is out for the time being with an ankle injury. Ehizibue could also have helped out in central defence, where Cologne will have to do without Jeff Chabot, who had ankle surgery on Monday, for a long time.
When sports boss Christian Keller (43) raises the transfer alarm after the injury fiasco and says: “We will explore the transfer market in the next few days and see whether we can improve defensively again.” But at the same time he has a top -Let a defender go who knows the league and the club and enjoys the trust of coach Steffen Baumgart (50), then that doesn’t really fit!
► Financially, an Ehizibue change is certainly lucrative, since FC can only collect the 1.5 million euros transfer fee due to the expiring contract of the fast Dutchman.
► In terms of sport, there was a lot to be said for stopping the deal immediately, vetoing a transfer and continuing to rely on Ehizibue instead of making an emergency transfer and then having to integrate the next newcomer.
So it’s a negligent deal that can still fall on FC’s feet during the course of the season…
