Adega de Pegões wins awards in Portugal and South Korea
Two.
The “Reds with Geographical Indication (IG)” won the Adega Cooperativa Agrícola de Santo Isidro de Pegões, with the wine “Grande Reserva 2017/Regional de Setúbal”. The Montijo winery still 20 is still a second county with the Península de Pegões wine – Reserva 20’/Regional Setúbal”.
This contest is a true tradition and is used by many visitors as a ‘consumer guide’, selling out very quickly the selected producers from the ‘stands’ of the producers present at the event.
This year’s competition involves 13 wines from 46 producers, with the nectars having been approved by ten tasters, over two days, at Escola Secundária Fernão do Pó, in Bombarral.
The winemaker José António Fonseca, who has been organizing this contest of wines from a certain Bombarral since the beginning, “as I have today every year in the awarding of prizes, there is a huge increase year after year and, especially, in the wines of our region ” . For the wine specialist, this is the result of the investments that the ventures have been making over the last few decades, both in terms of equipment and in terms of planting well-established vines and varieties taught to the soil, as well as grapes. of good quality. “Every year the wines [a concurso] are better”, adding José António Fonseca that the tasters’ scores were very high. “There were classifieds with an average of 0-100, with a score of 95/96, so there is no doubt that we are not on the right path”, he highlighted.
This wine contest was exceptionally excellent: the producers were not registered for blind tastings for tasters and, whether this wine was delivered defective or not, it was not contaminated by the cork. “When the corks are not of very good quality, sometimes a bottle with problems appears, which gives a cork aroma and flavor and is excluded from the tasting. But this year it didn’t happen and I think it was the first time”, highlighted José António Fonseca.
It should be noted that “Encostas da Arrábida Moscatel Roxo”, from Adega de Pegões, was elected the best fortified wine present in the Korea Wine Challenge wine contest, in Seoul, South Korea. This contest, which takes place annually, is the largest and most prestigious contest to be held in this country and it is already the second time that Adega de Pegões will obtain importance, as the award for best red wine in Portugal in 2020 won with Adega de Syrah Pegs.
In addition to this trophy, it also won two Gold medals with the wines Adega de Pegões Grande Reserva and Adega de Pegões Alicante Bouschet, one Silver and three Bronze, being one of the most awarded wine companies.
This year 2022 is the best year ever for Adega de Pegões, with a total of 152 awards in its wines, 15 of which are Grand Gold or equivalent trophies, 73 Gold, 47 Silver and 17 Bronze, which is well reflects its great quality.
