Sweden’s inflation eases, unemployment falls
Stockholm, August 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) Sweden’s producer price inflation fell to a five-month low in July, while unemployment fell for the first time in three months, official figures revealed on Friday.
Figures from Statistics Sweden showed that the producer price index climbed 20.4 percent year-on-year in July, slower than the 25.6 percent increase in June, reports news agency dpa.
It was the slowest rate of increase since February, when prices had risen 19.3 percent.
Prices for energy-related goods rose by 55.6 percent from last year and prices for consumer goods rose by 14.4 percent.
On a monthly basis, producer prices fell by 1.5 percent in July.
The data also showed that import prices rose sharply by 32.0 percent year-on-year in July and rose 0.6 percent from a month ago.
Export prices rose 21.1 percent in July compared to last year, while they fell 1.8 percent from June.
Separate data from the statistics office showed that unemployment fell to 6.4 percent in July from 8.6 percent the previous month.
There were 373,000 unemployed in July, down 82,000 from the same month last year.
At the same time, the employment rate rose to 71.7 percent in July from 70.7 percent the previous month.
