Salzburg Festival donates to charities
Salzburg/Berlin (MH) – The Salzburg Festival is donating 100,000 euros for charitable purposes this year. The focus of the support is on organizations and projects that help victims and those affected by the war of aggression in Ukraine, the organizers announced on Friday. The money came from ticket sales for the dress rehearsals for the play “Jedermann” and the opera “The Magic Flute”. The artists waived their fees.
According to the information, 35,000 euros each will go to the organizations “Doctors Without Borders” and “Neighbours in Need”. They also want to help people in the city and state of Salzburg who are in financial distress. For this, Caritas Salzburg received 20,000 euros. Another 10,000 euros will go to the non-profit organization for mental and social rehabilitation “Pro Mente Salzburg” and will thus benefit children and young people who have suffered mental damage as a result of the pandemic. “In addition to financial aid, it is important for us to sharpen our focus on these trouble spots,” said the Salzburg Festival Board of Directors.
The 102nd edition of the festival concludes with a performance of Verdi’s opera “Aida” on August 30th and a concert by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra conducted by Manfred Honeck on August 31st.
