German hiking couple falls in Salzburg – Salzburg
Two German tourists were seriously injured in a hiking accident on Wednesday and were rescued.
In the late morning of August 24, a serious alpine accident occurred on the trail between the so-called Teufelslöcher and the Hochseiler, near the glacier there.
Joint hike ends nightmare
A 37-year-old German and a 31-year-old German met on August 24 for a mountain hike. During the ascent to the high ropes, the two hikers had to cross a small glacier. To do this, they fastened their knick-knacks to their mountain boots.
The 37-year-old first tried to cross the glacier. However, he slipped and came to a stop about 50 meters below. In the crash, he underwent investigations of an unspecified degree in the area of his shoulder. His 31-year-old companion tried to help the man and also went to the glacier.
However, she also slipped and slipped further than the 37-year-old. The woman was unconscious in the crash and also had access to unspecified grades. Immediately thereafter, the 37-year-old alerted the rescue services, climbed down to his companion and provided first aid. The two injured were rescued by rescue helicopter and taken to the Schwarzach Clinic.
The alpine police expressly warn against going into alpine terrain with insufficient equipment. The respective mountain tours should be planned carefully and exposed danger spots should be avoided. For glacier areas, good crampons and an ice ax are recommended with suitable alpine equipment.
