Un handicap dur à encaisser face à Guingamp
Back in Ligue 2, Bordeaux made a very good start to the season, still being undefeated and showing themselves to be solid defensively. But for the reception of Guingamp on Saturday, the Bordelais will have to compose without their young defender Junior Mwanga, severely excluded against Grenoble, and suspended for at least one match.
Relegated at the end of last season, after a catastrophic exercise (red lantern in Ligue 1, worst defense in the 21st century with 91 goals conceded), Bordeaux returned to Ligue 2, 30 years after its last spell. A return that is going quite well for the moment, since the Girondins are still undefeated after 4 days (two wins and as many draws), and rank 3e, 2 points from first place occupied by Caen. However, before facing Guingamp this Saturday (3 p.m.) on behalf of the 5e daytime, David Guion’s men will have to do without Junior Mwanga, excluded in Grenoble on Monday (0-0).
In effect, while the red card seemed very severe (Mwanga having put a high foot but without touching his opponent), he was however confirmed by the disciplinary committee, meeting this Wednesday, which sanctioned the 19-year-old French defender with a two-game suspension, one of which was suspended. This despite a request for cancellation from the Girondins de Bordeaux.
Who will replace him ?
Established with the Norwegian Stian Gregersen in central defense during the 4 days of the championshipJunior Mwanga had made an impression (0 goals conceded, no dribble suffered, 94% passes completed). His absence against Guingamp is therefore a blow for his coach David Guion, who will have to replace him.
If in the Girondin workforce, three other defenders are available, two of them are undesirable at the club: Paul Baysse and Abdeljalil Medioub. If we have very little chance of seeing them against the Breton club on Saturday, the third name will certainly start: Malcolm Bokele. Established in the first 4 meetings, but on the right side of the defense, the training central defender should return to his position at least for one game. It now remains to be seen who will occupy the right lane of the Gironde defense on Saturday..
