The newly crowned Commonwealth Champion will compete in the Elite Athletics World Continental Tour in Lucerne, Switzerland next week before concluding it with the ISTAF World Continental Tour Silver in Berlin, Germany.

The African record holder has had a season of mixed extreme highs and lows. Omanyala won the Kenyan edition of the Continental Tour when he down to earthincluding Fred Kerley at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi.
He then won a few more races before dethroning South African Akani Simbine and winning the African title in Mauritius. He failed to qualify for the World Athletics Championships finals in Oregon after a late visa hampered his preparations.
However, Omanyala atoned for his disappointments in Oregon by becoming the first Kenyan to win gold in the 100 meters at the Commonwealth Games.
Speak with star sport Earlier in the week, Omanyala quipped that the intention is to end the season on a high.
The 26-year-old skipped the more competitive Diamond League meetings despite being invited to attend.

After a successful edition in Oregon, USA, Budapest will host the next edition of the World Athletics Championships next year.
The World Federation of Athletics fueled controversy when it revised qualifying times that athletes must meet to qualify for the event. Qualifying times have been reduced in all disciplines except for the men’s 400m and women’s 800m where the times have been revised upwards.
