Finland has reached the top marks in cyber security: Digital Nomads
Finland takes crown for the country with the lowest cyber threat score worldwide. This is according to the latest research Restart digital PR serviceswhich reveals the most cyber-safe countries in which to work.
Concerned about the safety of digital nomads, experts at Reboot Digital PR Services analyze cybersecurity statistics including downloads, phishing sites, malware hosting sites and compromised computers to create a Cyber Danger Index.
The study showed that Finland took the crown of the world’s most cyber-safe country with a cyber danger score of 12.6/100, which is the number one in Europe and worldwide.
There are less than 300 phishing sites in the country and a total of only 11 compromised computers per 100,000 internet users. Digital nomads take advantage of the midnight summer sun, when they can finish work and still have time to explore.
Austria is in second place with 19.8/100 in cyber risk. Austria has a total of only 600 phishing and malware sites for every 100,000 URLs.
Rounding out the top three is Norway, with just 14 compromised computers per 100,000 internet users and an average of just 1 download per month, helping its overall cyber risk score of 24.1/100.
Belgium (26.5), Ireland (28.4) and Estonia (28.4) are other countries that boast a score below 30 for overall cyber risk, demonstrating their robust security measures for travelers and tourists alike.
Albania ranks tenth with a cyber risk score of over 37.4 out of 100. Although it can present its low statistics on bypass downloads (2), phishing sites (260) and malware hosting sites – the lowest in Europe (260), the number of compromised computers is high, 2,384 for every 100,000 internet users.
On the other hand, Bulgaria is the least cyber-safe place in Europe with a cyber danger score of 77.6/100. Next come Romania (71.9) and Belarus (69.3).
This study analyzed more than 90 countries around the world, and the world’s best rankings can be found below.
Major global discoveries:
- Finland is the most cyber-safe country for remote working
- Four of the top 10 safest network countries are in Europe
- Albania has the fewest malware hosting sites in Europe, at 260
Methodology:
- Restart digital PR services conducted the following study to identify the most insecure countries for employment. This study analyzes cyber threats in each country, taking into account the prevalence of phishing and malware and botnets.
- Python data mining tools were used to extract cybersecurity statistics from over 90 Microsoft Security Intelligence Reports (2017) the result is a comprehensive data set that includes the number of phishing sites, malware hosting sites, compromised computers (part of the gamarue botnet), and average monthly Page Downloads in over 90 countries.
- Each statistic collected above was presented per 100,000 URLs, except for compromised computers, which were presented per 100,000. internet users.
- From the internal data set of more than 3 million restaurants and other eating places worldwide, the number of points of sale offering free Wi-Fi per 1,000,000 inhabitants was determined. The World Bank.
- Data from food outlets was not included in the general cyber risk classification.
- A final normalized ranking metric that takes into account the cybersecurity factors listed above was created and sorted in descending order to identify the most dangerous countries to work in.
Note: Cybersecurity statistics are only provided for computers running Microsoft Security as of December 2017
