the Council in August between quarrels and “strange” silences on Ivg
Notwithstanding the normal institutional customs and with the usual inconsistency that now distinguishes them, between the promised and the fact, the increasingly quarrelsome government majority is preparing to face an August council that has always been convened only for reasons of particular urgency, but for two years now full of extremely relevant themes. Once upon a time there would have been a scandal, of wanting to overshadow topics that cannot be addressed during the summer holidays, but today with a more responsible opposition they prefer to stay on track and limit themselves to noting the now customary political inconsistency. However, a strange silence fell on the draft law on voluntary termination of pregnancy. Libera cannot be satisfied with the text of the law emerging from the Commission’s work. In fact, there is the danger that other interventions, during the second reading, can further compromise the application process. The task entrusted to Parliament by the overwhelming victory of yeses in the referendum of September last year is clear: to provide the Republic of San Marino with a regulatory system that guarantees women a path free from constraints and minds for the Free IVG continues to fight to concretely apply this principle at a regulatory level, which cannot be waived in any way: women must be free to choose, to freely access the IVG, without moral pressures and protecting their privacy. In particular, we want the Counseling Center, useful for providing valid psychological, gynecological and andrological support to women and any other in general to people of age, not to be mandatory but, even in this case, freely chosen by the woman. On these crucial passages Libera continues to hold its own position in the classroom to advise by appealing to all politics: let’s not miss the opportunity that presents itself to us and give dignity to the very important work that the voters have assigned to us. We have a duty to enact a good law that gives dignity to women who in their life find themselves facing difficult and intimate choices.
