Hwang va rejoindre Nottingham Forest, Bordeaux poursuit son opération dégraissage
Ui-jo Hwang will leave the Girondins de Bordeaux during the summer transfer window. The Korean striker has agreed to join Nottingham Forest who could loan him to Olympiacos during the 2022-2023 season.
The financial consolidation operation is continuing in Bordeaux. Maintained narrowly in Ligue 2 after a long administrative battle, the Girondins will send several big salaries from the professional workforce. In addition to defender Mexer, expected in Estoril in Portugal, Korean Ui-jo Hwang will also leave during the transfer window.
The sale of the 29-year-old striker was beyond doubt after the club’s descent by Gérard Lopez, but it took a little time to materialize. RMC Sport is able to confirm the information from L’Equipe for the transfer of the striker to Nottingham Forest against four million euros (+1M€ in the form of a bonus). The club promoted in the Premier League could then loan him in Greece to Olympiacos which belongs to the same owner, Evangelos Marinakis.

Hwang will become Forest’s 17th signing
Anxious to leave Bordeaux where he seemed less involved in the field since the start of Ligue 2, Ui-jo Hwang was initially not very excited about the idea of going into exile in Greece. But after having exchanged with his compatriot In-beom Hwang, himself arrived at Olympiacos this summer, the Girondins striker seems to have accepted this possible fate. Before potentially heading to Piraeus, Ui-jo Hwang will therefore sign up for three years with Nottingham Forest.
Recruited by the scapular club in 2019, Ui-jo Hwang scored 29 goals and delivered 7 assists in 98 games in all competitions. In France, Nantes or even Brest recently presented themselves to the Korean but it is indeed Nottingham Forest which should (except rebound) register a 17th recruit this summer. Since the start of the transfer window, the team coached by Steve Cooper has already spent nearly 150 million to strengthen itself.
