AGENT: Dahlen prioritizes signing in the NHL or Switzerland over Timra
Jonathan Dahlen’s first choice is not to sign with Timra.
Claes Elefalk, Dahlen’s agent, San Jose Hockey said today in response to rumors the former San Jose Sharks winger’s home club had offered or prepared to offera long-term contract with her former star.
“No offer has been made yet. Dahlen runs daily with this team but that’s a premature rumor,” wrote Elefalk SJHN. “His priority is still the NHL and the Swiss league. Then we’ll see.”
Of course it makes sense that Timra would want Dahlen back. The 24-year-old helped Timra gain promotion to the SHL in 2020-21 with 77 points in 45 games and took home both the Allsvenskan regular season and playoff MVP awards.
Dahlen was voted Sharks Rookie of the Year by the media last season and in the first half the rookie had a 20-goal pace.
But the youngster found no consistency in the second half and was temporarily in poor health. He also dealt with several health issues over the year, including being placed on COVID protocol twice, a concussion and a couple of upper-body injuries. As of February, Dahlen scored just one goal and finished the season with 12 goals and 10 assists in 61 games.
The San Jose Sharks chose not to qualify the RFA after the season, making him a UFA.
“There’s a certain type of player profile, things that we’re looking for to help mold this team into the kind of team that I want,” said San Jose Sharks GM Mike Grier. “He doesn’t really fit the profile right now.”

Will Dahlen get the chance to make Grier eat his words this season?
“We have [talked] with several teams, but not fit yet,” said Elefalk. “30 days until the camp opens.”
