The staff of The charityresidence for the elderly Caen University Hospital (Calvados), no longer “knows what to do with all the postcards” that residents have received since the beginning of August. “We did not expect such a success! “The wall of the entrance to the Corot pavilion is covered with it, “like all the other buildings of La Charité”. In total these are 240 postcards which have been received. “It happens every day. »
Sent by children
Most of the postcards show children’s drawings and “really nice words”. “Originally from Caen, I live in Grenoble (…) The mountains are splendid. At the moment, it is very very hot, and I miss the temperate climate of Calvados and the sea too. I wish you a beautiful summer, and you embrace,” one of the postcards reads.
It is often families who broadcast them, and they do not know the residents.
The “postcards” operation, which is a first, allows residents to read messages from people who have gone on vacation “at the end of the world” or near their homes. This allows them to escape. It is possible to send a card until September 1st.
To send a postcard: Residence for the elderly – La Charité Service Animation, 53 Boulevard de la Charité, 14000 Caen.
