In Ukraine, create a martyrology of the victims of the war with the Russian Federation
On the International Day of Remembrance and Remembrance of Victims of Terrorism, the wife of the President, Olena Zelenska, shared the “Closed Eyes” project about residents of Ukraine who died during the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014-2022.
As reported by Ukrinform, Zelenska wrote about this in Telegrams.
“Today, on the initiative of the UN, the world honors victims of terrorism. Ukraine too. Because Russia’s constant bombing of our peaceful cities and villages, targeted shelling of shopping centers, hospitals and schools, torture and murder in the occupied territories is nothing but terrorism,” the President’s wife said in a post.
According to Zelenska, “there are many definitions of terrorism. However, it is primarily the killing of innocent people to intimidate the rest of society or community. Exactly what Russia does all the time.”
“On this day I want to share the object “Closed Eyes” — the authors plan to compile his full martyrology of the victims of the Russian-Ukrainian war among the civilian population in order to preserve the memory of the dead Ukrainians,” the first lady said.
According to her, “currently there are more than two thousand names here. Every name is an indescribable pain. “Died together with her son Vladyk during shelling”, “died from mortar fire in her own yard”, “kidnapped from home and shot”.
“Horror, when you see three identical surnames in a row, you end up: the whole family died,” Zelenska said.
“In the martyrology, you can add information about the deceased person. It is not only important to preserve memory – we have achieved justice with the testimony of such a large number of victims: that the international community recognizes Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism,” the President’s wife drew.
As reported, on August 16, the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center launched the “Closed Eyes” project and called for a complete martyrology of the victims of the Russian-Ukrainian war among the civilian population for the years 2014-2022.
The project team unites scientists who strive to honor the memory of the dead and tell the world about the unthinkable in the 21st century genocide that Ukrainians were subjected to.
It is possible to form a complete martyrology only by uniting the efforts of all Ukrainians, and therefore the curators of the project urge you to join this important matter and share information about the deceased person, the specifics of his death, and his life history.
An important event in the expansion of information about the martyrologist among the international community was receiving the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design 2022, which is the most prestigious city in the field of communication design. The project received the Best of the Best award in the “Social Campaign” category.
