Butcher’s shop in the agricultural school outdated – salzburg.ORF.at

The agricultural college Winklhof in Oberalm (Tennengau) lost a leading company. Fleischhauer Peter Gschaider quits after nine years. The school also lost an important teacher. In addition, the weekly farmer’s market will soon be without a butcher’s shop. A successor is being sought.
The reasons for his departure are complex, says Peter Gschaider. The butcher’s shop, which is housed directly in the Winklhof technical school, never really got going. The lockdowns would have made the situation even worse. Furthermore, the working conditions would make sensible management impossible.
Operation does not comply with hygiene laws
Gschaider refers to the 35-year-old building that houses the butcher’s shop. It is in urgent need of renovation and no longer meets the hygiene regulations.
Georg Springl, Director of the Winklhof Technical School, knows this too: “It’s all about the floor and the setup of the machines. Much is technically outdated. We also need a hygiene lock to separate the work areas.”
State Council promises remedy
The regional councilor responsible for the department, Josef Schwaiger (ÖVP), is currently on vacation. His office said that the state, as the operator of the technical school, would provide the money for improvements in the area of hygiene. The school management is now looking for a possible successor for Peter Gschaider.
From the fall, the butcher’s shop and the training facility will be in new hands. Gschaider graduated from this technical school. He also employed the students in meat processing. This is now to be continued.
