LASK retains the lead with a 1-0 win over Sturm
LASK is the only team undefeated in the Bundesliga. With a 1-0 win at Sturm Graz on Saturday, Linz successfully defended their lead in the fifth round. Austria Lustenau was the winner of the first Vorarlberg derby in the Bundesliga for more than 22 years. The promoted team won 2-1 at SCR Altach and is third in the table for the time being. Second is champions Salzburg after a 2-0 win at home against Austria Klagenfurt.
After the 1-0 away win in the hit game at Sturm Graz, LASK remains the measure of things in the early phase of the Bundesliga season. In front of 12,500 fans in Graz, Keito Nakamura scored the goal of the day for the Upper Austrians (65th), making them the only team to remain undefeated in the championship. For Sturm, on the other hand, it was the first defeat. At least one could be happy in Graz about the comeback of Jakob Jantscher after an injury break. He was substituted on in the 64th minute.
Red Bull Salzburg clinched a working win against Austria Klagenfurt five days before the Champions League was triggered in the group stage. After an atypical first half for Salzburg, in which hardly any means were found against disciplined Klagenfurt pressing, Fernando (51′) and substitute Noah Okafor (67′) scored for coach Matthias Jaissle’s team, which set the tone after the break.
Won the first Vorarlberg derby in the Bundesliga for 22 years. In a rainy battle in a sold-out town in Altach, Schnabelholz won 2-1 in front of 8,500 spectators thanks to a late goal by Bryan Teixeira (89′). Altacher had taken the lead through Alexis Tibidi (25th), Lustenau captain and ex-Altacher Matthias Maak (30th) managed to equalize a little later. This means that coach Markus Mader’s team can celebrate their second win in the series. With ten points after five rounds, the Lustenau team got off to a significant start to the season.
Further ahead in the LASK table with 13 points. Salzburg are in second place with twelve points, Lustenau are third with an impressive ten points. Sturm falls back to fourth place due to the defeat and is now five points behind LASK with eight points. Altach is eighth on four points, Klagenfurt is sixth (4).
