Foreigners who break Maltese laws should be expelled immediately, says the PN
The Nationalist Party said that foreigners who break the laws of our country should be expelled immediately and not allowed to enter Malta.
Through its spokesman for internal affairs Joe Giglio, the PN put forward its proposals for strengthening Malta’s security.
On Thursday, the police had to intervene after a fight took place in the middle of the day between over 20 people, who are believed to be of Syrian nationality.
Giglio said that the police forces should be strengthened with better working conditions. “Our police force is demotivated, overworked, overstretched and underpaid. We can’t keep going like this,” said Giglio.
He said that agencies that had the duty to enforce laws and increase discipline in the country, had to be strengthened. Giglio said that Identity Malta was “asleep” and does not take action against those who broke the law.
The PN also proposed that the armed forces begin to participate more actively in law enforcement.
“The courts should be allocated more resources and the Criminal Code should be rewritten to reflect the present realities. We still follow a procedure that was written in 1854.”
The PN said that the practice of employing everyone within the public sector and then bringing foreigners into the country to work without the proper background checks, had to stop.
“These are proposals that show that we know what we are doing and that our country is only open to people of good will and that you cannot come here and do what you want,” said Giglio.
