Abelardo: “We cannot throw the bells on the fly; it is a victory and nothing more” – Deportes COPE Asturias
Pitu Abelardo appeared at a press conference after the victory (4-1) against Andorra and was happy with his team’s performance but cautious about the future. “We cannot throw the bells on the fly. It’s a victory and nothing more”, said the technician.
The game plan went perfectly for a Sproting who knew how to counter Andorra’s long possessions very well. “The game went as we had worked during the week. The result is big enough to say that Sporting has deservedly won”, he stressed. In addition, he positively valued the 19,078 spectators present at El Molinón to see Sporting’s debut at home. “The people have been fantastic. Symbiosis with the fans is essential. More than 19,000 spectators in August is not easy”.
Abelardo made it clear that, despite the win, Sporting that was against Andorra, with less possession of the ball and going on the counterattack, is not what he wants for the whole year. “This Sporting is not what I want for the whole season. Today we didn’t have much of the ball because it was the game plan, but on other days we will have to have more of it”, he stressed.
I also talk about proper names: Queipo, Carrillo, Cote or Djuka.
