The Andorra City Council concludes the adaptation works of the San Macario path
The asphalting works on the road to San Macario in Andorra have already been completed. After the previous improvement work carried out in recent weeks and the corresponding asphalting, the vehicles can now circulate normally and without restriction.
The circulation was opened to local traffic last Friday. However, as reported by the Andorra City Council, small actions will be carried out in the coming days to finish preparing the road. These are minor adjustments that will serve to make an improvement in some water passages. In addition, the layout will also be equipped with different types of urban furniture, mainly lampposts and benches for pedestrians.
The improvement of this road, which until now was provided only with gravel, will make the circulation of vehicles more comfortable. The intervention will be especially interesting for buses and special vehicles, which will be able to go up to the San Macario park with much greater comfort and less danger. This is, precisely, one of the aspects in which the most progress has been made, since the intervention carried out supposes a substantial improvement of the accesses, and we must not forget that it is through the San Macario path that the Park is accessed El Cabo Archaeological Site and the Iberian Culture Interpretation Centre, as well as the hermitage and park of San Macario, a very emblematic place for Andorrans and Andorrans.
This work has been carried out by the company Ezague SL, which was awarded the works for an amount of 291,762 euros.
performances
The actions that were carried out for the conditioning of this road began by providing a pavement for light traffic to the existing roads in the defined sections to give a new access to the parking lot of the hermitage of San Macario.
The action carried out has a length of about two and a half kilometers and the average width of the road is 5.50 meters. A month ago, the actual terrain was measured in situ, with cement at a thickness of about 12 centimeters. On this layer, an emulsion primer was applied and on top of this a layer of hot bituminous mixture six centimeters thick in wearing course with limestone aggregate. During the work, the road’s drainage network has also been improved, obtaining two new masonry works and two ditches at specific points.
The latest works, which are being carried out during these days, are the vertical and horizontal signaling of the road, with the protection of the factory works by means of a safety barrier. Various points of light will also be installed, as well as benches in the areas of the widening of the road to facilitate the walk of people, according to the Andorra City Council. In the same way, the patching of Calle Fuente Baja, in the vicinity of the road, has also been carried out with the aim of filling in the imperfections that it presented by means of hot bituminous mixture.
telecommunications
On the other hand, the Andorra City Council has put out a tender for its telecommunications service to provide a better service to citizens and users. The goal is to modernize communications and optimize costs.
The council published the technical and administrative specifications for contracting the service, which aims to optimize the cost and address the modernization of the corporate network, both in voice and data services, in the fixed and mobile part, in order to to optimize all the City Council’s resources and improve the service provided to citizens, both in person and in electronic administration.
Until now, the City Council had a scattered contracting of mobile, fixed and internet lines with different operators, which made it difficult to monitor quality and breakdowns. In addition, there was obsolete equipment in switchboards, which prevented proper management of the telephone service to citizens who called the town hall.
