Red Bull Salzburg narrowly controls České Budějovice – Hockey-News.info
EC Red Bull Salzburg had to beat HC Motor České Budějovice by a narrow 2:3 (0:0, 1:1, 1:2) in the first preparatory game for the new season. In front of 2,510 spectators in the Budvar Arena, the reigning champions of the win2day ICE Hockey League still showed an appealing performance.
Peter Schneider and Ty Loney scored the goals for the Red Bulls, with attackers Maximilian Jelavic and Daniel Assavolyuk, two youngsters from the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy making their debut in the professional squad. Goalie Simon Wolf is also available as the second goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Atte Tolvanen, Thomas Raffl and Dominique Heinrich were not on the ice.
Both sides tried to set offensive accents in the first few minutes. David Kickert had to intervene several times in the Salzburg goal. The Red Bulls had their best chances on a four-minute power play when Mario Huber, among others, hit the post. The 1st third ended 0:0.
The first goals of the game fall in the second third. In a pressure phase, the Red Bulls Lukas Vopelka put the hosts ahead (34′). The answer came right after the restart when Schneider ran away from everyone with his usual effort and netted the goal to make it 1-1 (34′).
The final period began with the Red Bulls taking the lead for the first time in the game. After a shot by Chay Genoway, Loney pushed in from close range to make it 2-1 (42nd). But the Czechs turned the match around with a double strike (46th/48th). Despite a final offensive, the Red Bulls were unable to equalize.
Already next weekend there will be more ice hockey. Then the Red Bulls Salute takes place in the Kitzbühel sports park with EC Red Bull Salzburg, Red Bull Munich, EV Zug and Mountfield HK.
