Avignon: 1,200 kilos of vegetables indicated for the associations of the city

The appointment had been given early, Friday August 5, in order to avoid the hot weather. There were therefore more than twenty, from 9 a.m., at 674 Chemin des Cris Verts, ready to begin harvesting vegetables which will be given free of charge to associations in the city that are partners in the project.

A good harvest
1,200 kilos of potatoes were made and will therefore be distributed among the different associations partners. “This “solidarity vegetables” operation, deployed on three sites (Pétrarque high school, municipal nursery and Semailles association), was an opportunity for real synergy between the participants: high school students, teachers, volunteers from the citizen reserve and associations” , details in a press release the municipality of the City of the Popes.
A project born last spring to help “the most vulnerable among us, permanently affected by the economic and social crisis linked to the Covid-19 epidemic. » A partnership that allows all participants to find what they are looking for : experience for high school students who have followed the evolution of plants. Know-how and manpower for the City. And free vegetables for charities. In return, the latter participated in the harvesting and upkeep of the plots.
