series master Red Bull Salzburg announced the departure of Albert Vallci on Thursday afternoon. The 27-year-old from Styria is moving to FC St. Gallen in the Swiss Super League, where he has signed a contract until the summer of 2025. “The move to FC Red Bull Salzburg (early 2019, note) was a big step in my career and I’ve had a lot of extraordinary experiences here. But now the time has come to look for a new challenge, which I can do with FC St. Gallen,” explained Vallci in a broadcast by the Mozart townspeople.
During the three and a half years in Salzburg, the defender, who came from Wacker Innsbruck at the time, played 59 competitive games, but he was out for more than a year due to a torn Achilles tendon. “For the last year and a half, Albert has unfortunately had to deal with a serious injury and he hasn’t played much. He’s fully fit again now and will definitely be there for a week, which is why this change makes sense,” said Salzburg’s sporting director Christoph Freund the transfer positive.
Vallci will receive jersey number 20 at FC St. Gallen. Alain Sutter, sporting director of the fifth-placed player in the Swiss championship, had the following to say about the newcomer from Austria: “With Albert Vallci, we’ve managed to find a player who has a lot of experience and can be used in any position in defence.”
