Dovizioso will leave MotoGP after the San Marino GP Italpress news agency
ROME (ITALPRESS) – Andrea Dovizioso says goodbye to MotoGP. The 36-year-old rider from Romagna, world champion in the 125cc in 2004 will raise the white flag after the San Marino GP. The news was confirmed today by Yamaha Motor. After 20 years of career, Dovizioso will say goodbye to racing exactly one year after joining the Yamaha MotoGP team.
“Unfortunately, MotoGP has changed profoundly in recent years. The situation today is very different: I have never felt comfortable with the bike and I have not been able to make the most of its potential, despite the invaluable and continuous help of the team and all of Yamaha, ”said Dovizioso. “The results have been negative but beyond that I consider this at Yamaha a very important life experience. When there are so many difficulties you need to have the ability to manage the situation and your emotions well. We did not reach the objectives set but the consultations with the Yamaha technicians and with those of my team have always been positive and constructive, both for them and for me. The relationship remained loyal and professionally interesting even in the most critical moments and it was not so early for this to happen ”, added the rider from Romagna.
“For all this and for the support, I thank Yamaha, RNF Racing Team, WithU and the other sponsors involved in the project. It didn’t go as we hoped but it was right to try. My adventure will end in Misano but the relationship with all the people involved in this challenge will remain intact forever. Thanks to everyone ”, concluded Dovizioso.
