Criticism of Salzburg AG and dealing with clubs
energy
The multi-year electricity price contracts with Salzburg AG are currently expiring for numerous clubs. For the new tariffs, the energy supplier insists on a quick decision, because it deals with exchange prices. Sharp criticism comes from Salzburg’s Deputy Mayor Bernhard Auinger (SPÖ) – he calls for talks.
According to a recent letter from Salzburg AG, the Mitte sports center in the Nonntal district of Salzburg will have to pay six times as much for electricity in the future. The exact price depends on the stock market price and had to be determined on a daily basis at short notice, WILL be continued in the letter. Severe criticism of this comes from the Deputy Mayor of the City of Salzburg, Bernhard Auinger (SPÖ).
Auinger: “There is a need to talk to Salzburg AG”
He already has two letters where clubs would have to pay 30 cents per kilowatt hour of electricity instead of five cents: “And the decision should be made within an hour, because the current market price decides. Salzburg AG carries out the speculation about the clubs here – everyone who knows a club knows that a chairman needs a board decision. I don’t know how that’s going to happen in an hour,” criticizes Auinger. For the deputy mayor, there is a need to talk to Salzburg AG.
Salzburg AG: “Market price must be charged”
The spokeswoman for Salzburg AG, Karin Strobl, said when asked by ORF that Salzburg AG was legally obliged to charge major customers the market price. This is independent of whether the customer is an association or a company.
Land also sees a need for action
Sports Councilor Stefan Schnöll (ÖVP) now sees a need for action: “There definitely needs to be a solution.” However, concrete help for the clubs still has to be negotiated.
