Salzburg – Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022, 1:29 p.m
Maurits Kjaergaard originally signed a contract with FC Red Bull Salzburg.
The contract with the 19-year-old Dane will be extended until the summer of 2026.
“‘Mau’ has developed really well over the last season, gaining momentum and realizing its immense potential. But because we’re convinced that there’s a lot more to come, we’re happy with this one I’m sure that Mau will play a very important role in our team this year,” says sporting director Christoph Freund.
“Overall, I’m very satisfied with my first season at FC Red Bull Salzburg because I was able to contribute a little to the great success. That makes me happy and spurs me on to continue on my way here and to work hard so that I can get even more playing time and develop myself further. The early contract extension is even more motivation for this,” says the Danish U21 team player.
The 19-year-old Dane came to Salzburg from the Lyngby BK youth team in the summer of 2019 and initially played as a cooperation player at FC Liefering. He has seven goals and 14 assists in 47 games. The tall youngster (1.92 m) also took part in a total of four games in the UEFA Youth League team.
In the last season, he was promoted to the Salzburg first team. He has five goals in 29 appearances, including the goal in the 2-1 defeat by Sturm Graz at the weekend.
