Red Bull Salzburg bans Manuel Latusa’s shirt number 15

EC Red Bull Salzburg will no longer issue the shirt number 15 of classic striker Manuel Latusa. The meanwhile The 38-year-old is the first Salzburg player to receive this honor. The retirement will take place on the first day of the new win2day ICE Hockey League season.
At the beginning of the 2008/09 season, Manuel Latusa moved from Vienna to EC Red Bull Salzburg. He immediately became a leading player and crowd favourite. The Austrian international wore the Red Bulls jersey until the end of the 2017/18 season and played a major role in winning a total of four championship titles. After his active career, Latusa began working as a youth coach at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy.
Retired September 16th
The ceremonial raising of Latusa’s shirt number 15 under the roof of the Salzburg Eisarena will take place on September 16 as part of the first game of the season. The defending champion will receive the spusu Vienna Capitals live on PULS24.
Latusa is the second player whose shirt number is no longer assigned in Salzburg. Daniel Welser’s number 20 has been hanging under the roof of the ice arena since September 2018.
Red Bulls Salute is once again Salzburg’s preseason highlight
The 2022/23 ice hockey season will once again be heralded for EC Red Bull Salzburg with the Red Bulls Salute, which will take place in Kitzbühel from August 13th to 14th. This year’s international invitational tournament also has a top field: In addition to the two hosts EC Red Bull Salzburg (champion of the win2day ICE Hockey League) and Red Bull Munich (DEL runner-up), the field of participants will be the current Swiss champions EV Zug and the Czech CHL club Mountfield HK completed. This promises ice hockey fans two exciting tournament days for the fourth time in a row in the Sportpark Kitzbühel.
