On the streets of Athens, 1,200 buses will protect against the coronavirus
Hundreds of city buses in Athens are being equipped with antimicrobial surfaces and special air filters, to prevent the spread of the virus.
Protective shield opposite to coronavirus raises the Road Transports Anonyme Company (O.SY. S.A.), proclaiming two contests for the installation of antimicrobial equipment in Athens buses.
THE first of these are budget 1,026,720 euros (plus VAT) and concerns the placement-investment antimicrobial copper sheets, and in particular, sheets, transparent films and heat-shrinkable tubes, with a copper content of at least 98%.
The placement of the antimicrobial materials will be done on touch surfaces of 1,200 city buses of the company.
In particular, anti-microbial copper sheets (at least 0.035 mm thick) neutralize several of the strongest types of pathogenic bacteria and viruses, and in particular the SARS-COV-2 – COVID-19 virus. The microbial load is reduced completely on the surface of the copper in percentage over 99% and significantly reduces the risk of transmission of infection through touch.
The points of application of antimicrobial products – copper sheets on vehicles are:
– door handles
– seat handles
– handrails
– standing hand grips
– pull-up bars
– perimeter bars.
Antimicrobial air filters in air conditioning units
THE second competition it is big 297,600 euros (plus VAT) and concerns the provision of services installation of anti-microbial air filters with copper ions at air conditioning units of OSY vehicles.
In particular, these are air filters for air conditioners with copper ions at least 6 mm thick and 60gr/sq.m. which will be placed in the air conditioning units 1,200 city buses.
The installation of anti-microbial air conditioner filters with copper ions, as evidenced by efficiency evaluation certificates, neutralizes several of the strongest types of pathogenic bacteria and viruses, and in particular the SARS-COV-2 – COVID-19 virus in a percentage of more than 99%.
Microbial load is significantly reduced on the surface of air conditioner antimicrobial air filters with copper ions by a percentage of over 99% against SARS-COV-2 – COVID-19 and H1N1 virusesand in percentage more than 88% against the microbes Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella of pneumonia & Pseudomonas aeruginosa etc.
It is noted that the goal of OSY through the two competitions is to reduction of infections in public transport, which, as it has been proven, are one of the main foci of spread of the virus. To the total amount of the tenders exceeds 1.3 million euros.
The final applications of the offers are 26.07.2022 for antimicrobial surfaces and 29.08.2022 for air conditioning units.
