New fleet of trains on the Brescia-Bergamo and Brescia-Verona lines
Brescia. The plan for the renewal of the financial railway fleet from the Lombardy Region continues. In fact, three new medium-capacity Donizetti trains have entered the service on the Bergamo-Treviglio, Milan-Treviglio-Cremona and Milan-Codogno-Cremona lines.
On the Brescia-Bergamo, 82% of the service is carried out by new trains. The number of connections guaranteed by the new high-capacity Caravaggio trains on the Milan-Brescia-Verona line is also growing.
With further releases, the number of new trains in circulation on the Lombard lines is sold at 65.
«The fleet renewal plan – comments the regional councilor to Infrastructure, Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Claudia Maria Terzi– becomes more and more concrete and tangible. Regione financed the new rolling stock with 2 billion euros by purchasing 222 new trains, 65 of which are in operation. New convoys mean greater comfort for travelers and a reduction in inconvenience related to the age of the vehicles. The Region has taken on this investment which will decrease the quality of the service ».
From July 31st the Donizetti single-storey trains have a permanent circulation on the Bergamo-Treviglio line, on which they make 32 daily trips, 70% of the service.
Between Bergamo and Brescia, Capitals of Culture 2023, the Donizettis make 28 of the 34 races overall, 82% of the races.
The new trains have also started a circulation on the Cremonese lines: two journeys on the Milan-Treviglio-Cremona and one on the Milan-Codogno-Cremona are guaranteed by Donizetti trains. Also on these lines, they will progressively replace the old convoys.
On the Milan-Brescia-Verona, moreover, the races from the new Caravaggio trains go up from 18 to 28, or 75% of the overall service on weekdays.
