The wave of investigations has now been imposed on the terror suspect arrested in Sellrain on Saturday. According to the Innsbruck Regional Court, the decision is not yet final and the accused has time to consider whether to appeal against it. The 18-year-old had shown himself to be partially self-confessed.
The 18-year-old had already been taken to the Innsbruck prison at the weekend. His mother, who is said to have tried to run over officers of the Cobra task force during the arrest, was reported at large for aggravated assault and resisting state authority. A Cobra officer was seriously injured by the woman, one slightly. Mother and son could be overpowered.
18-year-old IS sympathizer
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the young man had discovered his radicalization when he was summoned by the Tyrolean State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism (LVT). In addition, the arrested person stated that he sympathizes with the terrorist militia IS and was in contact with other relatives. According to his own statements, the 18-year-old intended to take action against the police.
According to the ministry, the Directorate for State Security and Intelligence (DSN) had been monitoring the terrorist suspect for a long time. So far, the Austrian with Turkish roots has mainly attracted attention in relevant forums with corresponding statements, over the course of Friday more concrete threats were then identified – the suspect is said to have threatened to take active action against the police officers.
