Penalty margin secured Wals-Grünau half-time lead
The guests started like the fire brigade in this Sunday matinee. “We continued exactly where we left off against St. Johann,” said Grödig manager Thomas Schnöll, jubilantly to the minutes. The only thing that was “insufficient” in the first 45 minutes was how we dealt with the scoring chances. Sfait, Ogunlade, Schober, Finder and Völkl obscured some top-class opportunities. Unlike in round one, the Grödig people now understood how to take the fruits of the harvest with them. In the 55th minute, a Chancellor’s own goal ensured the numerical tie, which Waldmann (70′), Finder (79′) and Joker Popovic (83′) later converted into a relatively clear 4-1 away win. “The team showed an excellent performance in terms of play, played the opponent against the wall for 95 minutes.
