The man in his thirties suspected of being at the origin of the deadly house fire which occurred on Friday July 29 in the evening at Églisottes-et-Chalaures is indicted this Sunday for “degradation of the property of others by a means dangerous to persons resulting in death”, tells us Frédérique Porterie, public prosecutor of Bordeaux. He faces life imprisonment and a fine of 150,000 euros. He is a member of the victim’s family.
It all starts Friday night. Firefighters intervene at Églisottes-et-Chalaures for a house fire. When they arrived, a 59-year-old man, visibly stuck on the first floor of the 70m2 house, was already dead. They get to put out the fire and very quickly identify it as arson.
According to information provided by the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office, a little earlier in the evening, a family dispute would have opposed the 59-year-old man, his wife and a member of their family. The wife would then leave the home to ask for help. When he returned, the house was on fire.
The member of the family, a man in his thirties, was arrested the same evening and placed in police custody. Intoxicated, he could not be heard immediately by the investigators. He was auditioning on Saturday. On Sunday, the judge indicted him. The judge of freedoms and detention must determine whether or not the accused will be placed directly in detention.
A time led by the Libourne prosecutor’s office, it is now the criminal center of Bordeaux which directs the gendarmerie investigation.
An autopsy of the body of the victim found charred will take place at the beginning of the week.
