EM Hartpury: Austrians rock the terrain! – Equestrian sport worldwide | Equestrian sport worldwide
versatility – After the disappointing dressage tests at the European Championships in Hartpury, the Austrian eventing riders showed what they can do off-road! All five remained in the terrain without any obstacle errors: The juniors Helena Würmer (Upper Austria), Jana Aigner (Upper Austria), Amy Rose Frühwirth (Upper Austria) and Magdalena “Leni” Zellhofer (Upper Austria) aka Speedy Gonzales, who even stayed on time. The team has thus improved to fifth place! And young rider Robin Erking (Lower Austria) and his highlight only manage the terrain with a few time errors.
The fact that the red-white-red eventing team is probably competitive at the European Championships in Hartpury was proven by the five riders today in the second part of the competition, the cross-country! Because after the dressage, which didn’t go as planned, all four U18 riders stayed (except for Amy Rose Fruehwirth (Upper Austria) all EC debutants are) without obstacle errors. And that although there were a few passers-by and the field was shaken up. Magdalena Zellhofer (ÖÖ) and her nine-year-old AWÖ mare Highlight RZ even stayed on time! The young Upper Austrian made a big leap from 33rd to 17th place.
Jana Aigner (ÖÖ) and Sunday gold at rank 24, Helena Worms (ÖÖ) and Innsbruck on 29, as well as Amy Rose Frühwirth and Gin Tonic with only 1.2 time errors (33rd place), round off the successful team interim result. What is still possible in tomorrow’s competition remains exciting.
YR Robin Erking without obstacle mistakes, Calvin Böckmann out
The Austrian individual rider in the Young Riders, Robin Erkinger (Lower Austria), had to watch a few failures with his highlight shortly before the start, but was able to keep his nerve and gallop to the finish without making any mistakes. With 16.8 time errors, the red-white-red duo improved from 35th to 33rd place in the 47-strong field. A total of six rider-horse pairs competed differently in the cross-country, including the German Calvin Böckmann (GER), who was on course for silver after dressage with Altair de La Cense.
